The Impact of Your Donation
Your dollars supported critical programs and services throughout Brandon & District, helping 1 in 3 people in our community last year.
- By the end of the 2010 school year, Brandon’s Food for Thought Program had over 280 children registered, and served over 25,011 meals and emergency snacks in 15 schools, ensuring that children were not too hungry to learn.
- 98 residents stayed at Meredith Place, a transitional housing facility of the YWCA in 2010, many of whom transitioned to independent living situations, found employment, and attended support groups or counseling for addiction issues.
- The Vocational Training and Support Services at COR Enterprises provided clients living with a developmental disability with 9,360 hours of individual work experience or volunteerism, helping them to learn appropriate work skills and gain an increased level of self sufficiency, in a safe, comfortable environment.
- 60 youth received one on one tutoring from the Literacy Centre at Westman Youth for Christ during their after school and evening programming, which will give them the ability and confidence to succeed in high school.
- 12 individuals who are living and coping with aphasia, and their family members participated in the “It Takes Two to Tango” workshop offered by the Brandon Aphasia Project. Families learned about aphasia, as well as supportive conversation techniques and issues related to caregiver care.
