UNITED WAY PROGRAMS:
In 2010, the Coats for Kids program collected, cleaned, and distributed over 400 coats; ensuring that no child misses school because they do not have a warm coat to fend off the winter chill.
Tools for School provides brand new school supplies to children who would otherwise start the year without the tools they need to succeed. Last year “tools” were provided for over 700 children in the Brandon School Division.
United Way and Brandon and Area Community Foundation are proud equal partners of the Youth in Philanthropy program, which is run in Crocus Plains, Neelin, Vincent Massey, and Elton high schools. YIP helps students understand the importance of philanthropy, as well as the pressing social issues facing our community.
On May 19, 2011, in partnership with the City of Brandon, United Way announced the Community Emergency Relief Program in response to the high water emergency in Brandon. The fund was designed to support specifically those persons who had been displaced from their homes and from their place of work due to the mandatory evacuation order.
