Summer of Service Volunteers at Community Cleanup

Summer Youth Program Lead - Brandon

Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:00pm
Wage: 17.80 per/hour @ 35 hours per week
Employment Term: Monday, May 12 – Friday August 29, 2025

Location: Brandon, Manitoba

To be eligible, must be:

·         29 or younger at beginning of employment

·         Manitoba resident

·         Legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number

Duties:

As the Summer Youth Program Lead, you'll be the coordinator of our Summer of Service program — guiding youth volunteers, planning fun and meaningful activities, and making sure every day runs smoothly. If you're energized by teamwork and are excited about helping young people make a difference this could be the perfect fit!

Your tasks may include:

·         Lead and support the Summer of Service youth volunteer team with daily tasks and service projects.

·         Act as the main point of contact between youth volunteers, community partners, and staff.

·         Plan, schedule, and organize youth volunteer activities.

·         Ensure youth volunteers feel welcome, safe, and encouraged throughout their summer experience.

·         Track attendance, hours, and feedback for each youth volunteer.

·         Help coordinate supplies, transportation needs, and communication for volunteers.

·         Support youth in building teamwork, leadership, and service skills.

·         Participate hands-on in volunteer projects alongside the youth team.

·         Assist with promoting the program through social media updates and event highlights.

·         Organize a small end-of-summer celebration to recognize the youth’s contributions.

Qualifications:

·         Current post-secondary student (enrolled in a college or university program).

·         Previous leadership experience (ex: camp leader, team captain, volunteer coordinator) is strongly preferred.

·         Practice confidentiality and professionalism when working with sensitive information or situations

·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to encourage others and create a sense of team.

·         Comfortable leading a team of youth aged 14-18.

·         Ability to lift supplies and equipment will be required as part of program activities.

·         Able to plan activities, solve problems, and keep projects moving forward.

·         Can juggle schedules, people and projects without getting overwhelmed.

·         Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, and simple online tools).

·         Available to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends for special events.

·         A valid driver’s license is required.

Duties:

As a Youth Engagement Assistant, you will support the United Way Summer Team in running three community programs: Summer of Service, Coats for Kids, and Tools for School.

Your tasks may include:

  • Attending community volunteer opportunities with the team as a mentor for high school students.

  • Participate hands-on in volunteer projects alongside the youth team.

  • Entering basic information on forms or checklists.

  • Helping with setup and cleanup as needed.

  • Supporting office staff with other simple jobs as needed.

  • Sorting, organizing donations and packing donations - school supplies and winter clothing.

Qualifications:
To perform the job successfully, the Youth Engagement Assistant will be able to effectively demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Works well with youth, peers, supervisors, and community members.

  • Follows instructions carefully and finishes tasks on time.

  • Shows up on time, ready to help.

  • Sorting, setting up, and tracking program supplies (school kits/winter gear).

  • Willing to take on new challenges and ask for help when needed.

  • Practices confidentiality and professionalism when working with sensitive information or situations.

  • Ability to lift supplies and equipment will be required as part of program activities.

  • Stays calm and flexible when plans change.

  • Helps come up with creative solutions when something doesn’t go as planned.

  • Drivers license an asset.

Summer of Service Admin Assistant working in the office

Program Administrative Assistant - Brandon

Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:00pm
Wage: 17.50 per/hour @ 35 hours per week
Employment Term: Monday, June 30 – Friday August 22, 2025

Location: Brandon, Manitoba

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be 30 years or under at beginning of employment period

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Duties:

As the Program Administrative Assistant, you’ll help keep our community programs – Tools for School, Coats for Kids and Summer of Service running smoothly.

Your tasks may include:

·         Organize and maintain program files, spreadsheets, and supply lists.

·         Prepare inventory lists, and program reports.

·         Communicate with schools, community partners, and students through email and phone calls.

·         Update and manage contact lists, forms, and program materials.

·         Assist in sorting and organizing supplies.

·         Help with office organization to keep projects running on schedule.

·         Cover the front reception desk as needed.

Qualifications:

·         Current post-secondary student (enrolled in a college or university program).

·         Background in office administration, business, or related field is an asset.

·         Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

·         Confident working with numbers, able to manage budgets, track expenses, and place accurate supply orders.

·         Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate a program fundraising event from start to finish.

·         Good keyboarding skills and general comfort with office technology.

·         Friendly, professional attitude with strong written and verbal communication skills.

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

·         Ability to lift supplies and equipment will be required as part of program activities.
