Summer of Service Program Coordinator
Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:00pm
Wage: $17.50 per/hour @ 35 hours per week
Employment Term: Monday, June 1 – Friday August 28, 2026
Location: One position available each Brandon and Portage la Prairie
Duties:
As the Summer of Service Program Coordinator, you will play a leadership role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of the program. Working in both office and community settings, you will help organize volunteer activities and community projects, mentor and support youth volunteers, and help guide the day-to-day operations of the program throughout the summer.
Your tasks may include:
Lead daily Summer of Service activities in both office and community settings.
Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of volunteer activities, community projects, and youth engagement initiatives.
Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and guidance to youth volunteers and summer staff.
Assist with coordinating schedules, volunteer placements, community partnerships, and program logistics.
Communicate professionally with United Way staff, community organizations, families and volunteer participants.
Support onboarding, training, and ongoing support for youth volunteers and program staff.
Help monitor program participation, address challenges as they arise, and support positive problem-solving within the team.
Serve as a positive role model and help foster a respectful, inclusive, and team-focused environment.
Assist with program documentation, activity tracking, and general program organization as required.

Qualifications:
Post-secondary student, college or university.
Applicants must be 29 years of age or younger at the start of employment
Experience in leadership, coaching, mentorship, volunteering, customer service, or working with youth is a definite benefit.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required.
For Portage la Prairie - use of a vehicle is required.
Comfortable travelling to volunteer and program sites throughout Brandon and surrounding area.
Comfortable working with children, youth, families, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
Current First Aid certification is considered an asset
Summer of Service Program Assistant

Location: Multiple positions available in Brandon and Portage la Prairie
Duties:
As a Summer of Service Program Assistant, you will play an active role in supporting and delivering the program. Working alongside the Summer of Service Program Coordinator and program staff, you will help engage youth volunteers, support community projects and events, and contribute to a positive, team-focused program environment.
Your tasks may include:
Support Summer of Service activities in both office and community settings.
Participate in volunteer activities, community projects, and youth engagement initiatives
Assist with program setup, cleanup, logistics, attendance tracking, and participant support during events and activities.
Support volunteer communication, scheduling, documentation, and general program coordination.
Help maintain and support the e-Volunteer platform, including participant assistance and basic troubleshooting.
Assist staff with administrative, organizational, and office tasks related to summer programming.
Help document program activities through photos, forms, social media content, or other communication materials as directed.
Encourage positive participation, teamwork, and respectful interaction among youth volunteers.
Engage professionally with youth, families, volunteers, community organizations, and program participants.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and team-focused environment during volunteer placements and events.

Qualifications:
Post-secondary student, college or university.
Previous volunteer, school, customer service, or community experience is an asset.
Comfortable working with youth, families, volunteers, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
Able to complete hands-on tasks such as sorting, lifting light boxes, packing supplies, setting up materials, and helping at community locations.
Brandon - Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is considered an asset.
Portage- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and use of a vehicle is required.
Current First Aid certification, is considered an asset.
